200 CPI team members raced through Key West, built 22 bikes with local technicians, and donated $27,500 total to Samuel's House and the Cheryl Cates Foundation — turning a corporate retreat into a community giveback.

Turn team building into community impact with our Bike Build Scavenger Hunt! Teams raced through an exciting scavenger hunt adventure while completing challenges and collecting bicycle parts along the way. As the hunt unfolded, teams worked together to assemble bikes that were donated at the end of the event to children and families in need.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, CPI Security was founded in 1991 and has grown into one of the nation's top 10 largest security providers with over 700 employees and more than 230,000 customers. Companies like CPI choose the Build-a-Bike Program because it combines team building with purpose — employees work together through challenges and collaboration while assembling bikes that go directly to children and families in need.

“Watching our team work together throughout the hunt was incredible, but the most powerful moment came during the final donation ceremony. Seeing the bikes lined up and realizing the impact we were making on local families was something our group will never forget.”

— Liz Love, CPI Event Team Leader

One of the most memorable moments happens at the finish line. After teams raced through challenges and worked together to build each bike, participants gathered for a heartfelt reveal and donation ceremony with a representative from Samuel's House. CPI didn't just donate $7,500 worth of bicycles — they surprised everyone with an additional $10,000 contribution, bringing the event's total community impact to nearly $27,500.

By the end of the day, 22 complete bikes — with locks, bells, baskets, lights, and accessories — were ready for donation to men, women, and children of Monroe County. Employees left with more than photos and bragging rights. They walked away with stronger relationships, meaningful memories, and the pride of knowing their teamwork created a direct impact in the community.
